Attendance Information
School begins at 7:57am. Doors to school open at 7:35am.
The state of Wisconsin attendance law requires “all school age children be in regular attendance at school with total absences not to exceed ten (10) full or partial days of school per school year.”
The School District of Shiocton abides by the state of Wisconsin’s attendance law by allowing a maximum of ten (10) excused absences (all or part of a day) in a school year before requiring a doctor’s excuse. Beginning at the 11th absence, a doctor’s note will be required in order for the absence to be excused. Any absences beyond the 11th will result in an unexcused absence and may result in a truancy referral or citation.
Should a K5-12th grade student attending the School District of Shiocton be absent for five (5) cumulative days, a five (5) day attendance letter from the respective principal and the school social worker will be issued.
Should a K5-12th grade student attending the School District of Shiocton be absent for seven (7) cumulative days, a seven (7) day phone call OR email from the school social worker will be sent as a notice to the parent or guardian of the student to be made aware of the student’s attendance.
Should a K5-12th grade student attending the School District of Shiocton be absent for ten (10) cumulative days, a ten (10) day attendance letter from the respective principal and the school social worker will be issued.
Should a K5-12th grade student attending the School District of Shiocton be absent for eleven (11) or more cumulative days, the school social worker will contact the student’s parent(s) or guardian(s) to schedule an attendance meeting and complete an Attendance Success Plan to address attendance concerns. Any absences exceeding the 11th may result in additional parent or guardian meetings, a truancy referral, or a truancy citation.
Tardies
A tardy will be documented anytime a student is late 10 minutes or less to class. More than 10 minutes late will result in an unexcused absence.
Three (3) unexcused tardies will result in one (1) detention, which will be issued by the teacher or principal.
