7th Grade Science
Mrs. Ludick
Shiocton Middle School
20011-2012

7th Grade Life Science
Major units of study will include human biology, heredity, and the classification of living things: bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals.

Student Expectations of ME

  1. I will treat all students fairly.
  2. I will grade all work in a timely fashion.
  3. I will be available for help when ASKED! Also, I regularly tutor students a few days before a test or quiz when asked. It really helps!
  4. I will keep students up-to-date on their academic progress through grade sheets every other Thursday. These grade sheets must be signed and returned by the following Monday for 15 points. If 2 in a row are not returned, I will call home.

Teacher Expectations of YOU

  1. Cover books (and keep them covered)
  2. No food, beverage, or gum (unless I preapprove) I DO allow healthy snacks and water anytime. If you do not know if your snack is healthy, ask me!
  3. Be in your seat and ready when class starts and do NOT pack up to leave until I dismiss you.
  4. When I am talking-YOU listen; when a student is talking-we ALL listen.
  5. Write your assignments in your agenda every day. Get it signed at least once a week. It will be checked every Friday for a possible 10 7th grade dollars.
  6. If you make a mess, clean it up. If you don’t know who made a mess, be responsible and clean it up anyway.
  7. Use appropriate language. Just because a word in not ‘technically’ a swear word, does not mean it is appropriate. Some examples of words I will not allow are suck or crap.
  8. Overall, be respectful of yourself, your classmates, the classroom, and me.

Late Work
• Work is due on the due date. Put it in the basket at the beginning of the hour.
• If it is one day late, you will get 10% off your score.
• If it is more than one day late, it is a zero.
• More than 2 zeros, and you do not qualify for the reward.

Tests
• Depending on the material covered, sometimes a test is not the best way to ‘test’ your knowledge. Although, when we do have tests, you will be provided with a study guide which you will complete for a grade. The study guide is an excellent indicator of what will be on the test.
• On the rare occasion I do not provide a study guide, I will tell you what pages in your binder will help you study for the test.
• I distribute the study guide about 5 days before test day.
• We always have a review day before the test.

Binders
• You are required to have a science binder. Your binder will be kept in the science room. If you take your binder out of the room for any reason, it is your responsibility to bring it back the next class period.
• Your binder is an organizational tool and will be the place in which all science materials go. This includes notes, assignments (after it is graded), tests, etc.
• Most of the material will be turned in to be graded and then put into the binder for later use such as to complete a study guide. Although, some will not be turned in to be graded (ex. notes), but it will be put directly into the binder. This does not mean that it gets thrown away, because your binder will be turned in at the end of each quarter to be graded.
• At the end of each quarter, each page in your binder will be worth 4 points: 1 for the title, 1 for the page #, 1 for the page being in order, and 1 for it being complete. This can add up to a lot of points, being that on average, there are about 25 pages at the end of each quarter.
• Again, the purpose for the binder is not to make your life miserable. The purpose is to be organized so that when papers are needed, you can find them! Hint: Studies show that successful people are organized!!

I look forward to the school year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at school. My # is 986-3351 (extension 757)
