The 2021-22 Shiocton Girls Basketball season was a fun and exciting season. We put together a really challenging schedule this year by playing some much bigger schools and talented teams. We started the season well by going 7-1 in our first 8 games including our first win against rival Wittenberg since 2018. Although the win/loss record would not reflect it, we played really good team basketball over the course of the next 2 months. We played some very competitive games against excellent opponents, which helped us gain valuable experience heading into the postseason. We would finish the regular season with a record of 14-10 and we were seeded 7th heading into the playoffs. We defeated conference foe Weyauwega-Fremont at home by a score of 42-29 in our first regional game. We then played our Regional Semi-Final at Mishicot. #2 seeded Mishicot was the defending D4 state champion and had a record of 19-3. We knew all the hard work we put in would eventually pay off for us and it did that night as we pulled off the 61-56 upset win. That win would put us in Bonduel for the Regional Championship game. While the outcome was not what we wanted, it was a great experience for me and the team to compete in an electric atmosphere. Our team took a lot of pride in being great on defense this year and we held our opponents to an average of 39 points a game. We also ranked 3rd in the state in D4 in steals. Throughout the season there were injuries, blood, sweat, tears and a lot of laughs. We had a lot of fun along the way and it truly was a memorable season.
