2022 Season Review
The Shiocton Football program had a year to remember for their 2022 season! Not only did we make the WIAA playoffs, but the Chiefs made a tough run through the playoffs to return to Camp Randall to be crowned the Division 7 State Runner Up.
This team first mentality truly showed throughout the season, as Shiocton battled in every game, win or lose. This stemmed from the great leadership shown by the senior class; Bradley Demerath, Cade Stingle, Davin Piechocki, Dawson Schmidt, Devin Jennerjohn, Dion Helser, Dylan Herb, and Jacob Klitzke. All of these seniors were voted on by the team to be captains throughout the season.
Cade Stingle led the Chiefs offensively with over 2,700 all purpose yards on the season, and 32 touchdowns. Dawson Schmidt also broke the school season passing record with over 2,050 yards passing and 22 touchdowns in the air. Davin Piechocki and Jacob Klitzke also were named all conference offensive linemen for their performance at the line of scrimmage.
Shioctons defense also performed well throughout the season, including four shutouts with two being in the playoffs! Dylan Herb led the team with 94 total tackles, of which 12 were tackles for a loss. Devin Jennerjohn was also a leader of the defense at middle backer, contributing 36 solo tackles and assisting in an additional 27 assisted tackles. The defensive line also had a standout performance with 32 total sacks on the season with all-conference ends Bradley Demerath and Dion Helser contributing immensely.
We also saw promising underclassmen performances that bode well for the future of the program. Bennett Schmidt was named second team all-conference at receiver, where he led the team with over 890 yards receiving. James Mutchie and Cody Young also rounded out the record breaking receiving core. Defensively, Isaiah Carton was among the top 3 in total tackles on the season and contributed greatly in the run defense. Gunner Baker also stepped up and had 3 interceptions on the season. Linemen Braden Collar and Owen Carlson also jumped into the fray regularly, and performed well on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Several other underclassmen also contributed greatly to the special teams and rotation of the team.
There is so much to be happy for with this season, and the Shiocton Football program would like to thank everyone that consistently supported us throughout the season. We look forward to recounting the memories made this season, and are excited to see what the future holds for the upcoming players!
